Women in Indie Music podcast from Radio 3

Tags: , , , ,

CBC Radio 3 has put up an entire Special Edition Podcast on Women in Indie Music, hosted by Lisa Christiansen.  It includes tons of awesome music, a reprise of Amanda Ash’s interview-filled short documentary from earlier this summer, and interviews with Amanda Ash, Eli Leary (talking about Rock Girl Camp Vancouver), and me (talking about Ladysound).  I think it’s pretty awesome.  I even like the parts with other people, so it can’t be only because I like to hear myself talk.

Internet awesomeness from The Pack A.D.

Tags: , ,

The Pack A.D. are featured on the newest Radio 3 Sessions Podcast.  Both the interview-y bits and the music are fantastic (as you might expect).  Go listen!

In other Pack A.D.–related internet awesomeness, Maya’s joined NxEW (read her introductory post), and NxEW linked to a couple concert recordings you can download for free from the Internet Archive’s Live Music Archive.  Plus, Herohill interviewed them (link from NxEW).

New The Pack A.D. video

Tags: , , ,

The Pack A.D. got together with R3TV to create the video for Blackout.  The resulting video is a lot of fun, plus also it’s all behind-the-scenes-y for CBC.

Edit: I nearly forgot to mention that The Pack A.D. are on tour!  You should go see them.

Interview with Charla McCutcheon (of Bella) on Radio 3 tomorrow.

At 1:30 PM EST time, according to her twitter.  If my understanding of the Radio 3 schedule is not entirely wrong, that means right in the middle of Grant Lawrence Live.

New Peaches Video - “Lose You”

Tags: , , ,

Peaches’ new video for “Lose You” is up on YouTube now.  It has unitards and awkward conversation!

Found via CBC Radio 3, who found it through Chartattack.

(Today’s Ladies On The Charts update delayed until someone at Canoe figures out that they put up last weeks’ chart again.  Also, in chart-and-Peaches related news, Craig Norris mentioned on his show today that Peaches will be on next week’s R3-30.)

Girls Rock Camp Vancouver Interview on Radio 3

Tags: , , ,

Check out this fantastic interview with Sarah Buchanan and Eli Leary (two of the organisers of Girls Rock Camp Vancouver) from Lauren Burrows’ show on CBC Radio 3 this morning.  They talk about what it’s like to be a female musician, why it’s important to have a rock camp just for girls, what they’re trying to create with the rock camp, and the many things that they’ll be teaching.

They also gave an update on their quest for gear: they’re still looking for donations and loans, especially of electric guitars and bass guitars.  They could also use a few more PAs and drums.

As well, Lauren’s blog post this morning has the trailer for Girls Rock! (a documentary about the original Rock’n'Roll Camp for Girls), links to some other rock camps, and info about Girls Rock Camp Vancouvers’ upcoming events—a thrift sale and a show.  You can also read about the events on Girls Rock Camp Vancouver’s events page.
